The NHS Rolls up at Protec HQ

Being a major player in the life safety industry, we deeply understand the value of human life. Our mission to save lives extends beyond detecting external dangers like fire or gas; we feel it also involves encouraging individuals to monitor their health for potential internal issues, which in turn could also save lives.

This is why we are delighted to share the success of our recent initiative to bring the NHS Health Check-Up service directly to our head office in Nelson, Lancashire. For two days, we had the privilege of hosting the NHS, which provided comprehensive health check-ups exclusively for our employees aged 40 and over.

A Healthy Team for a Happy Workplace

Understanding the importance of early detection and preventive healthcare, we partnered with the NHS to ensure our team had access to vital health services. The NHS Health Check is designed to identify early signs of major health issues such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease. By providing this service onsite, we aimed to make it convenient for our employees to take proactive steps towards better health.

What is included in the NHS Health Check-Up?

During the two days, associates who signed up for the health check were able to:

  • Answer several questions regarding family history and lifestyle.
  • Get height, weight, and blood pressure measured.
  • Undergo a blood test to check cholesterol and diabetes.

The process was smooth, efficient, and confidential. Based on their results, each participant received personalised advice on maintaining or improving their health.

The Impact

The feedback from our employees has been positive. Many appreciated the convenience of conducting these important health checks at the workplace, saving them time and effort out of work hours.
As much as we hope there were not any underlying health issues found, we hope this exercise will identify possible causes for concern if present. This has then provided people time to look at possible preventative measures such as changing diets, looking at exercise regimes, or seeking further medical assistance.

Our Ongoing Commitment

This successful event underscores our commitment to the health and well-being of our team. We believe that a healthy workforce is more productive, happier, and more engaged. We are dedicated to continuing to provide resources and opportunities that support the health of our employees.
Moving forward, the NHS will be back to conduct more health checks for the over 40’s in addition to smaller health check for team members under 40 who would like to participate. We are also looking at possibilities to roll this type of initiative to our regional offices and look to solutions where engineers on the road can also have the same service provided.

Finally, we would like to extend our thanks to the NHS team for their professionalism and dedication and to our employees for participating and making this event a success. Together, we are building a healthier, stronger community within our company.
